British Army Creates Psy-Op Unit of Facebook Warriors

The British Army is creating a new special forces unit and are not ashamed in declaring who their target is. It’s you.

The 77th Brigade, which will formally be established in April, is being created to counteract narratives on social media that the government would rather you not be cognizant of. These 1,500 ‘Facebook Warriors’ — as they are being called — will be heavily proficient in psychological operations and unconventional warfare. Their duties are being outlined as “non-lethal warfare.”

A British military spokesperson stated that the
77th Brigade is being created to draw together a host of existing and developing capabilities essential to meet the challenges of modern conflict and warfare. It recognises that the actions of others in a modern battlefield can be affected in ways that are not necessarily violent.
The 77th, which will be stationed in Hermitage — about 60 miles west of London — admits that it will employ the tactics of spreading both disinformation and truths across multiple social media platforms, according to reports.

This will not be the first time that a nation has openly engaged in psychological operations via social media. Both the United States and Israel have utilized the Internet for years — covertly and publicly — to counteract reports that are unfavorable to their agendas. The IDF has a presence on 30 social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook. Israeli Defense Forces also apply the use of six languages to assist in spreading their political hyperbole globally. Fort Bragg in North Carolina also houses a segment of U.S. Psy-Op forces who partake in similar activities.

This trend of “unconventional warfare in the information age” seems to align with the fact that the public is quickly losing faith in the thinly veiled “state sponsored” corporate media that is perpetually being broadcast across the Western world.

While it isn’t a shock that governments incorporate these types of deceptive strategies against their own people, it is quite amazing that they openly acknowledge their actions.

Maybe the tagline for Alex Jones’ InfoWars is more accurate than we would like to admit. It seems there really is a "war on for our mind."
