Saudi Arabia’s senior cleric has urged confrontation against the “oppressive” ISIL terrorists.
On Sunday, Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh called the Takfiris an “aggressive and oppressive” group that “sheds blood.”“If they fight Muslims, then Muslims must fight them to rid people and religion of their evil and harm,” the mufti said, adding, “They have been killing ever since they began their fight. Their killing is filled with mutilations and hideousness that distort (the image of) Muslims.”On August 19, the sheikh described the ISIL as “enemy number-one” of Islam, noting that extremism, radicalism, and terrorism have nothing to do with the holy religion.
In late August, reports said the ISIL militants were planning to launch an attack against the Saudis during Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice), which marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
The ISIL militants have been already wreaking havoc on Syria and Iraq. The terrorists have been committing heinous crimes including the mass execution of civilians and armed forces in the areas they have under control in the two neighboring countries.
Takfiri terrorists currently control parts of eastern Syria and Iraq’s northern and western regions. They have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Izadi Kurds and others, as they continue their atrocities in Iraq.
Senior Iraqi officials have blamed Saudi Arabia, Qatar and some Persian Gulf Arab states for the growing terrorism in their country.
The terrorist group has links with Saudi intelligence and is believed to be indirectly supported by the Israeli regime.
