Hours after a gunman in Brooklyn ambushed two New York City Police
Department officers and murdered them in cold blood, a third officer in
the Bronx barely escaped a similar fate.
According to the New York Post, police were dispatched to East 140th Street in Mott Haven at around 9:00 p.m. Reports had come in a few minutes earlier that a man was shooting out windows with his gun.
As the officers approached the suspect and commanded that he drop his firearm, he reportedly turned towards them, aimed the pistol at the head of one of the cops, and pulled the trigger.
Fortunately, the man had apparently used up all his bullets shooting up the windows.
The New York Post reports that, as soon as he realized his gun wouldn’t fire, the suspect pocketed the weapon and took off running. The officers ultimately caught up with him, tackled him to the ground and arrested him.
