Trump Says “Military Option” On The Table For Venezuela; Provokes Statement From Russia

By Brandon Turbeville
The United States has finally rattled its sabers loud enough against Venezuela that it has provoked a response from Russia. After imposing yet another round of sanctions upon an already economically embattled nation following a questionable Venezuelan move to reassemble the Western-backed opposition-dominated National Assembly, the U.S. is grandstanding yet again about “democracy,” “human rights,” and all the other things America tends to ignore except when it is able to use those concepts to justify foreign wars.
Speaking at a New Jersey Golf Club where Trump had concluded a meeting with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, the President reiterated the American hostility and aggression towards Venezuela and even openly stated that the United States is weighing a military option to enforce its own agenda of imperialism upon the country.
“We have many options for Venezuela. And by the way, I am not going to rule out a military option,” Trump said.
He added that, “This is our neighbor. You know, we are all over the world and we have troops all over the world in places that are very, very far away. Venezuela is not very far away and the people are suffering, and they are dying. We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option if necessary.”
Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino reacted with a level of shock, labeling Trump’s statements as a “crazy act.”
“As Minister of Defense and as a citizen I say this is a crazy act, an act of supreme extremism,” he said.
“There is an extremist elite in the US government,” he added, “and I really don’t know what is happening and what will happen in the world. If humanity will end. If planet Earth will end.”
“The daring threats of President Donald Trump intend to drag Latin America and the Caribbean into a conflict that would permanently alter the stability, peace and security of our region,” said Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza.
Arreaza added that “the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela once again warns the international community of the serious threats that are ever increasing.”
“The time has come for international organizations and multilateral forums in the region and in the world to reaffirm the validity of the norms of international law and to curb the most aggressive action of the US empire against the Venezuelan people in more than a hundred years.”
The American saber rattling, while not out of character, then provoked a statement from the Russian government with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stating that “We are united in the need to overcome the existing disagreements in the country by peaceful means through a nationwide dialogue as soon as possible, without any external pressure, not to mention the unacceptability of the threats of military intervention in the internal affairs of this country.”

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed a willingness for dialogue with the United States, indicating that he wanted to speak with U.S. President Donald Trump on the phone. The White House, however, responded with typical narcissistic stubbornness indicative of a pre-determined plan to destabilize and destroy Venezuela by stating that “President Trump will gladly speak with the leader of Venezuela as soon as democracy is restored in that country.”
So, yet again, the United States is threatening another sovereign country and perhaps the world with extinction over its incessant push to install an Anglo-European financier system across the planet. Sixteen years on and still mired in Afghanistan as well as being stuck in Iraq, losing in Syria, hovering all over Africa and throughout Eurasia, we are now witnessing the last days of a dying empire. Thus, as America marches forward as the enforcer of all that is corporate and financier, the rug is being jerked out from underneath it at home. Jobs continue to disappear and even America’s cities are now burning with protests and violent mobs. The empire marches on, however. And the American people are watching their living standards march along with it.
