URGENT: Let your Voice be Heard!
Your action is STILL needed to urge Congress to fund the basic sciences
and limit the effects of travel restrictions.
Your action is STILL needed to urge Congress to fund the basic sciences
and limit the effects of travel restrictions.
As you know, funding for
the sciences is still in dire crisis. Automatic cuts by sequestration
have had pronounced effect on the agencies which fund basic research
(DOE Office of Science, NIST, NSF, and DoD Basic Research).
Additionally, travel restrictions which limit collaborative interactions
among researchers are STILL being limited by onerous OMB Travel
Restrictions. Congress is in session, and NOW is the critical time to
let your voice be heard saying NO to these automatic cuts and travel
restrictions.
Please email your representatives through the Materials Voice website. Log on and send these three letters:
- OMB Travel Restrictions for Government Employees
- Support sustained research funding for DOD, DOE, NIST and NSF
- Support basic research funding within the Department of Defense (DOD)
By sending these letters to your
House and Senate offices, you will ensure that your representatives are
aware of just how important scientific research funding is to you.
Please visit the Materials Voice website at www.mrs.org/materials-voice and send your letters today. It takes less than 5 minutes to engage in an important civic duty.
As constituents impacted by NSF,
DOE Office of Science, DOD Basic Research, and NIST, MRS membership
should show our strong support for the Administration’s FY2014
budgets—and its ability to restore funding levels to critical values for
these 4 agencies.
We urge you to send your letters today. Your colleagues and your nation need you.
Thank you for your support,
